Thanks for the friendly reception here in the Forum.
I am primarily a Long Range Shooter, but since I'm also a Police Officer responsible for the deer in my county, I am also very interested for hunting and want to make my hunting license next year.
Shooting I do at distances up to 1000 meters at various places of the army.
I am also at many international competitions of the military with my sergeant club.

It is a FN SPR in .308
I have this rifle now since 2010.
I was able to already meet targets up to 800m.
It has a 60cm barrel and a very good McMillan stock.
Next, still a few modifications for more magazine capacity, and there comes a new scope.

Beautiful country. Nice looking rifle. We tend to hear the Swiss firearms laws are pretty generous is that true?

Thank you. yes the Swiss weapons law is very liberal. So it is to have each Swiss citizen possible weapons.
every man a swiss soldier and has a Sig 550 fully automatic.
It may also at any Swiss teenager a young shooter course can do. they then get a fully auto Sig 550 for this time.
In Europe, we have measured population number at the few incidents with weapons. although we have to most people's weapons in private hands.

DK, your English is fine and much better than our Swiss. You appear to have a excellent understanding of long range shooting. Great photos also.

Curious why you chose a 308 ? For easy ammo availability ? Do you reload ? I suppose that there are few modern bullet choices in 7.5mm for the original Swiss cartridge (7.5x55), but a 6.5x55 or 6.5x284 or 7mm Rem Mag might have been better choices from a performance standpoint. If the 308 is for training, then it certainly is effective, since it has a lot of drop and needs good wind correction technique.

I used to fly ZA to Basel for a few years and did get to explore a little. The small villages are picture perfect. Zurich is a big city like most big cities = traffic jam... Very polite people at the borders but who take their job very seriously.

The Swiss have succeeded in keeping their federal government an appropriate size and seem to have avoided the abuse of power that the Americans are experiencing with a Federal government out of control. A working vs a dysfunctional Federation... We could learn a lot from you guys...

I had to get the opportunity very cheap on a FN Sniper in .308. For 1700 I then remained in this caliber because it has very large near to 7.5x55. For 7.5x55 I have built me a K31 Sniper. you can in villages only shooting with weapons of the swiss army. That's why I built the K31 Sniper
I am now off a sniper team set up with my buddy for competitions. The goal is to be able to start on Finn Sniper.

I find it very gratifying that we Swiss in the world, so many people have found our system well. Just after the last EU vote.
