Lapua Case hard to prime

My last 100 6.5-284 lapua were the same and after they were once fired they primed a lot smoother.

Lapua 6.5x55 cases were a bit tight. New Norma cases for 7MM Magnum were the same way. REALLY hard to seat.

My understanding when you say "hard to seat" you mean it is hard push them deep enough so they are below the case head. Is this what you are talking about? Or are you saying it is hard to press them into the primer pocket opening due to a tight fit between the primer's outside diameter and primer pocket inside diameter?
If you are having a hard time seating them use a primer pocket uniformer to get the pockets deep enough for proper seating. I had an issue with several lots of different chamberings with Norma cases. You could encounter the same thing with Lapua brass.
I used a RCBS uniformer tool and had to make a cut then remove brass to remove material and repeat as much as three times. In addition to that the side of the uniformer was a tight fit. Had to use a tiny bit of water to lube sides of uniformer so it wasn't so difficult. All this was done with an electric power drill with uniformer chucked up and on a low speed.

if they where new in the bag never fired you should have 2 tools in your box a flash hole uniformer tool and a primer pocket uniformer. Both can be had either manual or screw into a motor driven affair. Lyman sells a great unit the caseprep express comes with all of the accessories.
And if you are just setting up you could go all hog and go with the Hornady all in 1 it has it all from a top mounted power trimmer to stations in the front for chamfer, debur inside neck cleaning primer pocket uniformer flash hole uniforming the works. But wait the price has it all to this Hornady set up is costly

Okay got it. Have you tried other primers? They vary slightly in their OD. Even same manufacturer's primer can vary some.

I have a box of Lapua 260 casings and I prime with a RCBS bench mounted primer....dont have a bit of trouble with them??
