Hi, I have a Remington 700 XCR Long Range Tac in 300 win mag
Being its a .300 win mag I assume its a long action, I believe.

I want to rechamber it to something bigger, but keep it in the 30 Cal, and willing to go wildcat ammo. However I dont want to replace the barrel.

Was thinking something along the lines of 338 Lapua Necked down, .30-378 WBY Mag. How difficult is it to do this? Much modifications other than the rechambering of the barrel? Suggestions?

You would be better off to use the ultramag case so the boltface will work. With any of these you will probably need to use an extended magazine if you want a repeater. Also , in order to gain very much performance, you would benefit from using a longer barrel. The feed rails will also have to be altered. Gary

Been doing a little more research, Something like the 300 Lapua Mag looks appealing (.338 LM necked down to .30)
What would it take for that to happen on my gun?

I know that Rem offers the 700 in 338 Lapua. I will not build one on a 700 action. When the boltface is opened up, to accept the Lapua Mag head, the surrounding metal is, in my opinion, too thin to provide a safety margin. All of the custom actions, that I have built rifles on, have larger diameter bolts than the magnum Rem 700.

+1 for Eddie! I just can not see re-chambering a 'factory' barrel. That's called "steppin' over dollars to pick up dimes". Good Luck with your quest.
