The video doesn't say anything about the targets....size, no bullet impact, or group size. Tell us what's going on!!!

He's starting with the far target and working back. You can follow the trace (swirl in the air) right to each target, see the target wiggle, and then hear the impact.

nice!
in the back ground are the oquirrh mountains. there are 4 big bull elk and 6 nice muley bucks that live in the foot hills and cross the road every morning to eat in the farm fields! two days a go there were 5 coyotes trying to separate a young prong horn from its mother! love that area. Is it at wasatch wings?
shooting towards the military base! priceless

Thought i saw your old 7mm up for sale on ksl a couple of months ago?

I can't tell if the targets are moving or if it's just mirage .
The kind of videos I like is when they show a blank target then go back to the firing line and fire the shots . Then drive up and inspect the target . Makes me feel like it may be genuine. You know there was something to be said for expensive celluloid film . It tended to not get wasted on poor productions , like digital is nowadays . Maybe I am too critical .

I must be missing something because I never saw any hit on anything ?
From the beginning.

1,000yds gong first, you follow the trace to it, see it wiggle, then hear the "gong" sound of impact.

He then works backwards. Pick up the swirl/trace in the air, and follow it to each of the targets.

On the mile shot. There are two big rocks just below the crest of the ridge, one kind of trapezoid shaped the other somewhat egg shaped. The eggshaped rock on the right is the target.

Follow the dust cloud left to right (crossing wind right to left) and you see the center of impact; if you can't pick up the location of the intial hit as it happens.

First shot hits just left of dead center top to bottom side to side.

If you look closely at the rock there's sort of a scalloped cut out between 9:30=12:00. The initial burst of dust marks the center.

Second shot hit high left edge just below the scalloped cut out about 10:30/11:00.

gun)
another view and what is just behind that hill:cool:
...... welcome to tickleville ut (camp williams army reserve base)

.... the last spot on their videos had a highway and a home just on the other side of a small backstop.

Thanks for the detailed directions. I took off my computer glasses and put on my reading glasses and I can see the close targets move but whether he is " in the black or not who knows " . I can now see the puffs of dust of the 1000 yard shots but it appears to me that one is on the rock below and another hits the large rock above. That is quite an elevation difference . Even if I 'm wrong . So he hit a huge rock formation some place at 1000 yards . I just can't see the precision in this information .
This gives me flash backs to the story " Canyon shooting " in the magazine " Precision shooter " again maybe I am being over critical and should shut up. I am not nocking the shooting or the efforts involved at all . I am just not getting any information out of the video production that says to me , " wow that was a great shooting " .

Well the "gong" sound tells the tale on each of them, and again you can, some of us can, see them move with the impact. Those are large gongs and that's only 140gr bullett striking them.

On the rock, nope, both hits on the egg shaped rock. First just left of dead center, second top left just below the concave cutout. That's not 1,000yds, it's 1,750yds.

Tha's one hell of a long way to push 140gr bullett with any level of accuracy much less precision. Give it a try sometime. The hits are within probably 3' of each other estimating the size of the big rock to be 9x6', and at that range, with that light caliber that's not a whole lot over 1MOA. Again, give the same shot a try sometime. Considering he's not even able to anchor his bipod on that shooting table so that he can preload it, again, that's pretty impressive.

A mile may not be far to walk but it's an awfully long way to send a small bullet.

Yes sorry, the rock is at 1750 yards . Not hearing any real clear gong sounds on my end .
I disagree with the hits on the rock . No need to get testy mate . I don't think anyone can say for sure where that rock is being hit with absolute certainty from the video . You kind of miss my point , I am not knocking the shooting . I am saying I can't see the evidence of the shooting to any degree of precision . Why did they not just drive up and video the rock ? I will not say anymore as it seems you want to turn a discussion into an argument.

I'm not the least bit testy. I'm not even involved in the shooting or video.

I'm just pointing out the facts one of which I'll correct. It was a 7mm 168gr vld, not 140.

As for the rock... .

Half the rock is shadow. The first round hits just left of where the shadow starts and just about dead center top to bottom. The reason you see dust over the lower rock is because the wind is right to left. Look to the right edge of the dust trail and you see the impact is where I'm pointing to.

Even with the slightly larger bullet this is quite a feat at over 1,600M with such a small projectile especially from such a shooting platform.

As for the gong shots, yes Mirage is making it somewhat difficult to see clearly what is happening, and the wind masking to degree the impact sounds, but again, if you follow the trace in the air you can follow the bullet straight to each target and there is a definite sound of impact one would not get hitting soft dirt. There's also no dust being kicked up around the targets to indicate a miss. On the 700yds target you can even pick up the wave caused by the impact and blowback towards the camera from the paint.

Again, pick a similar target at a mile, and give it a ride if you feel this isn't an accomplishment. You will come away I'm quite sure feeling differently. Personally I've had kills out to 1,300M's myself and I realize what an accomplishment it is to stretch it out so much father.

As for the video quality, well, when you don't have a 50,000.00 dollar set up and editing software to make it "fit for TV" you go with what you have and mirage is always going to be a problem under high magnification if the conditions are right.

I sure dont' have any gear that could match this quality, neither do the vast majority of us who aren't "in the business".
