What load are you shooting? Rem 5R 300 Win Mag

Could anyone provide me with their load data for their Remington 700 5R 300 Win Mag. I am going to get started on a long range load 1000 yrds +. I have some 208 gr A Max and some 215 gr Berger Match Hybrid Target bullets to start with. Powder is my real concern. I have some IMR 7828 SSC and Ramshot Magnum but I see alot of people using H1000.

Can anyone help me out?

Why does it matter if it's a "Remington 700 5R 300 Win Mag" vs a Savage or Winchester?

The same load may shoot well in all 3 and it might not shoot worth a hoot in the next "Remington 700 5R 300 Win Mag" that rolls off the production line.

I got bugholes @100yds with the Berger 230gr OTM in my 300WM Sendero using WW brass, 66.5gr RL22, and GM215M primers with ~2450 fps MV.

I only used the RL22 because it had been on my bench awhile and I wasn't using it for anything else. Your 7828 should be plenty good. As is H1000. I've never tried Ramshot.

I've been working on other rifles/loads. But, I look forward to trying them at long range.

Custom built Winchester Model 70 300 WinMag w/ 28" barrel and I've had great experience with WW brass, Nosler 200g Accubonds, Fed Match mag primers, and 72.2g of RL22. This gets me to 3025fps and the whole thing performed perfectly on a 6x6 bull at 575 yards last fall.

This is what I have worked up in my 26" Remington 5r up to this point, YMMV. I used Remington brass. I know other brass has a different capacity than Rem, and may be a couple grains lower in powder charge.

230 berger OTM Tactical Hybrid
78.0 grains Retumbo
Remington Brass
Fed 215
.005 into the lands
Clover leaf groups at 110 yards at 2885 fps
No stiff bolt or obvious pressure signs on brass

I also got great accuracy with 73.0 grains of H1000, it was just slower than I wanted to see (2660 fps). It would handle up to 76.0 grains, but the accuracy wasn't there and velocity started to decline.

I have been working with the RamShot Magnum. I havent really worked into the accuracy yet. Last weekend was the first time I took my 300 out for a test ride. I just wanted to put a few rounds through it and do a little barrel break in. My next outing I plan to do some ladder work with the 215 Berger's. It is a very fun rifle to shoot. With the muzzle brake I had no idea that i was shooting a 300 WM.

Looking at the Hodgden burn rate chart Retumbo, Magnum, and H1000 are all right there int he same rate.

This one is from the archives. This was a load with an old lot of Retumbo, don't try the above load with the newer lots. I've since switched to 215 Bergers at .050" off the lands with 76.0 grains of H1000 and a Fed 215M for 2850 fps in RP brass. My brass is much happier.

I shoot a 24" Milpec 5R. It groups .25"-.4MOA with either 79 gr Retumbo(2900FPS), or 75 Gr H1000(2820FPS). I use a 210Hunting VLD Berger, Fed215, Norma brass, .025" off the lands. ES both loads <12 FPS.

Dialed in two in the last couple weeks, 215 Hybrid between .010-.040 of the lands, around 76gr of H1000 lit by a CCI 250. Both guns shot very well out to 1500+ low ES at 2950 fps. Work up to this load.

I am using 79 gr of H1000 with a 215 berger and a Fed Gm 215 Match primer. 3000 fps and one ragged hole groups at 100 yds. Well under half MOA out to 700 yds.
