I just talked to Jim See at Center Shot Rifles and my custom Surgeon/Brux rifle in 7mm SAUM is being shipped tomorrow! I already have a pound of RL-17 to try, but I've heard that it is fairly temp sensitive. What is the best powder you have found for the 7mm SAUM? I'll be shooting 168 gr Bergers through a 28" barrel. I'm looking for a temp sensitive and accurate powder, velosity is secondary. I was thinking H1000, H4831(sc), Hybrid 100v, RL22, RL25, or Supreme 780. Any ideas?gun)

Ryan, the Rel 19-22-25 will be temp sensitve, over time most guys have seen the issues with that. I will admit I still burn rel 19 in a couple rifles because they just love that powder accuracy wise.

I have no real experience with the 7rsaum but with other cartriges with-in that powder to bore ratio, I see your best bet as H4831sc and H1000, if your looking for temp. insensitive powder.

I shoot Re 22 in my 7 saum, temp sensitivity isn't a problem until the temperature climbs above 70 degreees. I developed a max load in 30 degree temps and have had no troubles from zero to 70, gets above that and things get toasty.

Gonna watch this thread for awhile myself cuz I gotta a Rem. 7 Saum I will need to feed soon. Berger 168's is what I got in mind also.

Hey Jarhead if you can and don't mind post what you find that works for you. What is the twist on your barrel by the way ?

I agree with 300stw. I have found that IMR-7828 has worked well in my 7mm SAUM. I have gotten some very good groups with 168 Berger's using IMR-7828.

I only tried two powders in mine and found a load I really liked. Win supreme 780 gave great velocity however SD was a little wild. Magpro wound up producing 2960 fps from a 24" bbl with excellent accuracy and was very consistant across the chronograph as well. Might be worth a try if you have some magpro lying around, I have been very pleased. Good luck.

My factory 700 7mm SAUM shoots less than .5moa all the way to 600(farthest I've shot it) with 60.0gr of H4831SC and 168 Bergers loaded at 2.825.

It feels like a long time since I started this tread, it's amazing what a few years can do. I ended up trying several different bullet and powder combos before I found the one my rifle loves. The 162 Amax with H1000 gave very good results and performed great on game. This past summer I tried the 180 Hybrid and found 4831sc is the combo my rifle loves.

Norma MRP2 and H1000 work well in my 6.5 saum and it will work in your7 saum. I would stay away from any reloader powder.

Why are you unsatisfied with the reloader powders? I've recently started load development in my 7 saum ( rem 700 with factory barrel) with RL-17 with decent groups(0.6 moa). That said, im concerned about velocity fluctuations with temp swings.

I believe the temp hangup that people are having with the "Reloader" series of powder is bogus. If you reload at 0 degrees and then head to AZ during the summer and shoot at 115 degrees, you'll see a big spread, as well as with every other powder out there.
