I have to bulid a bolt rifle for project at school. Have rem 700 action have a mcmillen adjA3-5 stosk on the way will chamber in 30/378 looking at kriger for barrel. cant decide on pillar bedding or bedding block would like your in put on thisor ant in put on anythig concerning this build. I will be blue printing the action under the directiou of Henery Rivers. Thanks for your in putgun)I would also like any in put on a long range scope for this rifle

If the barrel is heavy then a bedding block is better than pillars in most cases.A Vortex Razor scope with FFP ( first focul plain) MRAD reticule seems to be a good scope .
 
If you're going the bedding block route, you got alot of glass to dig/grind out for that Whidden block to go into. Also, kinda' wondering about an extractor for that cartridge. I've seen several 1917/1914s converted, but they use a big Mauser style extractor. Is this a new full time, 2 yr. gunsmithing program you are attending?
 
Gonna be a nice project, but I'd go for the 300 RUM or 300 ackley mag/308 Baer, the 378 case is a bit much on a rem 700, its better with a CEG bolt but I wouldn't do it, sightron, vortex, or nightforce are your best scope options.
