165gr vs 180gr

Son, has a elk hunt into Wilderness Area Idaho shooting an 06.
Not sure as to which load to load for him 165gr or the 180gr will be a premium
bullet one of the Accubond or the SST interbond bullets.

Unless he plans on making shots over 400 yards I would recomend the 165 Accubond.

Less recoil and flatter shooting . Inside 200 yards the Elk will never know the difference.

I use 165 grns in 30-06. I've got an accurate load using H4350 pushing the bullet at 2950 fps.
 
Speer claims their 165 has a BC of .52. I highly doubt it's that high, but if so, it kills anything below the 190 for wind drift at any distance, IIRC... I wonder what the BC actually is for this bullet...
 
I think the bc of the 165 speer falls around .47, I'd use a 165 accubond or sst interlock over 58-60grns H4350 with an oal at about 3.325"
