Just trying to determine a starting point for load workup in my 6mm284. Be trying 87 grain Berger hunting VLD's and Reloder 17. I am thinking 45 grains would be a reasonable start based on experience with my 6.5x284, but that comparison scares me a little.

Any words of wisdom?

I shoot a 6x284 and use Re#17 I load 52.5grs behind a 90 gr Nosler BT. I'd start at 49 if I were you. My rifle is rem 700 26" Hart 10" TWIST. I get 3450 FPS.
