so here is my dilema, opinions please

i just seem to have an undying love for the 22-250, so i am afraid of a long action because if i ever rebarrel it, will prob be to go back to the 22-250.

Either you don't understand what has been said, or you really do not want a 6.5. A 6.5x47lap will fit in a really short action, will perform the same as the 6.5x55, almost the same as the 6.5-06 and use less powder to boot.

Maybe you should stay with the short range .22 that you can't hunt big game with.

Steve:rolleyes:

this gun isn't for big game. also i don't consider 800 yards with a 22-250 short range. i do clearly understand that a 6.5x47 will fit in a short action. i also don't think it will preform the same as a 6.5x55; close, but not the same.

It will likely perform MUCH better. And if you aren't using it for big game, the do a 243 AI or even a 6BR or Dasher. NO reason to shoot 6.5 when for your use, a 6mm will do the trick.
