Looking hard at the Leupold Mark 2 series scopes. Has anybody had experience with these? Looks to be a good cross between a hunting and tactical scope. I wonder how their glass compares to the VX-3 series?

The Mk 2 is an excellent scope for the money.

Oddly enough the 4x12 is cheaper than the 3x9 with the same retical.

I have 30 + Leupolds includeing the Mark 2. To tell you the truth I see very little difference between the Var x 11 all the way up through the Mark 2`s in good lite. As the lite goes down the higher dollar scopes will show you why they cost more. The thing is everyones eyes are different so you really should compair them side by side yourself.

I ordered one in 4-12X40 from SWFA but I got a reply back that they were out of stock and Leupold had discontinued making them. Talked to Leupold and they said they had dropped the Mark 2 name. The scopes in that class are all called Mark AR now. Same scope but all have the BDC calibrated for either 5.56 or 308. Guess i'll just wait until I can afford a VX-3.
