I picked up my custom LRK (Long Range Killer) yesterday and I went out today to break-in the barrel.
All work was done by Jim See at Center Shot Rifles. I am 110% pleased with his work and customer service.
Components:
Surgeon Single Shot Short Action
Brux Barrel 1-8.6 twist fluting done by Brux
CSR 3 Port Brake
Manners T-2 Stock
Timney Trigger set at just over 2 lbs
Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x50mm Scope
Burris Tactical Rings, Medium
Pelican 1750 Case
Match Chambered in 7mm SAUM

After I fired and cleaned 5 rounds, I shot a 2 round and a 3 round group at 112 yards. I have not done ANY load development yet, these are with book minimums for break-in only. Needless to say, I am very very happy.

Nice rifle. After seeing those groups, it looks to me that you have a great shooter.
Was wondering also what caliber is it?
Thanks for posting.

I knew I forgot to put in something. It's a 7mm SAUM. I ordered an adjustable cheek piece today from Jim See, the cheek weld isn't where it needs to be. I can't say enough about Jim See at Center Shot Rifles. This is my first custom build, so I had lots of questions. Jim always took the time to work with me and offered his opinions when I asked. He never tried to push me towards using certain products, because he sells them, or any shady business practices. I will be using him again.

Why did you pick the SAUM over the WSM. Just curious because this is a debate I have been debating for a while now? I know that I have read the SAUM is to be more efficient at powder burn especially in the heavier bullets. Nice rig. I like how the barrel matches almost seemlessly with the action and muzzle break. What type of velocities are you seeing?

You might want to check your zero. You have a nice group, but you missed the dot!!! LOL! ;)

I went with the SAUM for 2 main reasons. First, the SAUM can almost duplicate what the WSM can do, but with less powder (a little cheaper to feed and close enough that the difference in velocity won't matter). And second, I am the type of person that doesn't like to do what everyone else is doing, you just don't hear much about the SAUM.

I had Brux make the barrel wider at the action than normal in order to match the diameter of the action. Jim did a great job fitting the brake to the barrel. I like the look when things are made to match each other, I'm particular about that kind of stuff (just ask my wife).

Unfortunately I didn't crono any of the break-in shots, I had the crono and tri pod but no battery. Where we shoot it would have been about 20+ miles to get one and I didn't have that much time to spend. I should be getting the adjustable cheek piece from Jim tomorrow and I should have time to do some load testing on Sunday. I'll keep everyone posted.
