Thats why Id say send them upriver for a few years first, then deport them.
If they get a taste of that MAYBE they'd think twice about coming back for seconds.

Not that it matters much now, but did they find out why he committed such a horrible crime?
It cost about $22,000+ in 2015 dollars to incarcerate one person in a state prison and about $35,000 in 2019 dollars to incarcerate one person in a federal prison. The US has more people in prisons than any other country. Could some of that money be better used elsewhere? Probably. I'm glad I'm not the one having to decide that can of worms. Deportation would seem to be the cost effective answer. But yes, some of them will be back next week. Some doing the same thing. And the merry-go-round keeps on spinning.

My cousin came up with away to stop the illegals coming across the border. Set the National guard, and tent with medical equipment and staff. Each male that comes across get castrated before sending them back. I bet it wouldn't take long before the men wouldn't come across after that. Call it, "A quick fix"!

Stop paying people to jump the border. No free money. No jobs. That is the end of it.
Yeah the story was written in the newspapers back then. Now it's on internets too, easy to look up, If you've ever hunted at a deer camp with family and friends, you'll know the bad guy had no reason to kill the hunters. Normal people, who were just Dads, Brothers or Sons out at a Wisconsin Deer camp. About as bad as it gets 20 years ago. Pretty sure the guy's lawyer, helped him assemble his story but, No Reason, is all a normal person can politely say.

It's a lot easier than that. Arrest, and fine to oblivion anyone who employs one. $1mil per occurrence. After the second occurrence it's 364 days in jail, 3rd occurrence is 20 years.
And of course deport the illegal.
People who employ them are why they come. If there were no jobs, they'd stop coming. We could 1/4 our spending on boarder patrol tomorrow morning if we did this. No wall needed. But no one wants to actually stop their cheap labor. Neither R or D.
Isn't that what they do to feral dogs and cats? Hhmmm.....

Nuclear effectively stopped the need for fossil fuels 50 years ago. But we refuse to use it.
Problem with fines is, "you can't squeeze blood out of a rock". There broke!
The only drawback is they show up with a real social security card and credentials. When you vette them it looks legit. They get a name and driver license for a few bucks.

I just really dislike symbolism because of the blind faith it leads to. I dislike symbolism because of how great this country is.
I'm not loyal to the country per se. I'm loyal to our founding documents and the enlightenment ideals and freedom they provide. Those things are worth fighting for. The government, our country, can easily become hostile to those ideals.
That's why our military members, even our politicians, take an oath to uphold the constitution and not to the government.
My faith is certainly not blind by any means. But I do understand what you mean.

Oh, no, I don't mean fine the illegal. Like you said, they don't have anything to give you. You fine the employer that much. You have to make it wildly more expensive to employ illegals. So much more expensive that you can't say, eh, cost of doing business. Honestly $1 mil might not be enough. $100mil, not able to be discharged in bankruptcy.
