I need some help with any loads for a 30-338 Lapua (AKA .300 Lapua) please. Mine has a .344 neck and 0.188 freebore.

I have to supply the proof house with a moderate top load and then 5% & 10% above this. I am not allowed to shoot the rifle first, so cannot work up a load for it....

Normally they would use a standard and then 'proof' load that is on their books. However they've only ever had 1 rifle in before and for that the smith provided the load for it. There are less than ten 30-338 variants in the whole of the UK (i.e out of 60,000,000 people)! So I haven't got many people over here to ask!

Also I have 210 grain Berger's to hand to supply them with.

Any loads greatly appreciated.

Hi there, I'm after 'real world' figures from people that actually shoot this round. That link doesn't have much apart from the VV .300 Lapua data....which is very high pressure at the top ends. I'm a little nervous about supply loads 10% above those top loads from just a bit of paper.

So can anybody who shoots this round please provide me with a suitable safe load with 200/210 grain bullets please?

Tiff,
I thought maybe you could contact Richard Franklin at
[email protected] Ph. 540-890-8649
He does a ton of LR shooting with the .30-338 Lapua'..., thought he might be able to help you out with your loads. Can't hurt.

Hi 436 I'll drop him a line...Guess that's the difference between US & UK gunsmiths. Over here a lot would want paying before giving out such information!

Anyone on here have any load data please?

Tiff,
I understand Richard is a pretty good guy; good bet he'll send you a little info on what he's done with the cartridge and the bullet weights your asking about
Good luck
