Trail boss

Like to try subsonic load in 6.5 creedmoor are there any other powders that would work?

H4895 might do it, if you use something heavy like the Hornady 160gn RN or Woodleigh 160gn RN. 6.5CM will be tough to get subsonic without using TB- 308 has the advantage of 200+gn bullets to slow it down.

He's pushing the 160gn to 2500 FPS still, that's a big ask to slow down so much without using a special powder:

300 BLK is the easy button for subsonic, it was purpose built for it and uses much more common powders to di it. I have AR, bolt gun, and a T/C set up for subs - no fuss trying to slow down a thoroughbred when there's a jackass at hand.

I would but my thermal is on my creedmoor and my suppressor goes up to 6.5

I would but my suppressor only goes up to 6.5 and my thermal is on a 6.5 creedmoor could put thermal on different gun but have only one suppressor

I was going to try Speer 140 impact bullets with trail boss but it might not work

I believe Tightgroup is another I read could be used. HAven't seen it for awhile either.

Have been thinking of doing some of these myself...My ultra long Virginia woods rang huning and all :p

Hodgdon Powder Company has found that H4895 can be loaded to reduced levels. H4895 was chosen because it is the slowest burning propellant that ignites uniformly in reduced charges. To create reduced loads, the 60% formula is recommended.
Find the H4895 load in the Reloading Data Center for your caliber and bullet. Take the maximum H4895 charge listed and multiply by 60% (.6). The load may
be adjusted up from there to achieve the desired velocity and accuracy.
This works only where H4895 is listed. DO NOT use in a cartridge where H4895 is not shown.
Example: 30-06 cartridge with 125 gr. Sierra SP bullet. Max load shown in the Reloading Data Center with H4895 is 53.7 grains. 53.7 X .6 = 32.2 grains. The shooter begins with this load, and may work up from there to obtain the desired velocity and accuracy for his reduced load.
Call Hodgdon Powder Company if additional information

Don't see any way to get large cases sub sonic without trail boss. H4895 is still going to be over1100 FPS . I've used Lil Gun in 300 black out subsonic. And still have couple of cans of trail boss. But its dirty powder. Lil gun is much cleaner.

Only reason I have the 6.5 creedmoor is it was the only cartridge that best fit my needs in the weatherby rifle!

Tried trail boss in online muzzle loader couple of years ago. It worked pretty good unless you compressed it.shotgun primer would not set it off compressed. Trying to get cleaner burning powder than black or pryodex. Gave up and went back to pyrodex.
