Thieves Amongst Us

Another thing to consider taking out of your vehicle is all important papers like registration, insurance, warranty info. Learned that the hard way. Now I take photos of those in case I get stopped by law enforcement as well. Those documents typically have name, addresses, etc. on them that you really don't want a thief to have.
Great idea 👍🏼

"Billings" Is just the "Seattle" of Montana!

I don't put any GUN related stickers on my vehicles, You are just asking for trouble in a lot of different ways, Here where I live, The law will give you a thumbs up for having 2A items, If you need to travel to a Lib state, You may get searched and harassed. I live in a county that's called a 2A Sanctuary in Utah, Look it up on google.

Yeah at hotels everything valuable goes inside. In NM namely Albuquerque my truck has been broken into/ or rummaged through every time I stay at a hotel. Avoid them and camp out

They Cut the pedicels and sell them like sheds usually
Sounds like an easy way to thin the herd if you ask me. If that happend more often this wouldnt be a thing anymore. I mean really, what has the the world come to when thieves aren't afraid of hunters????

It seems to me that being dressed up in camo or orange while checking in at a motel is another way of targeting the trucks with the gear in them. Anything that says you're a hunter or shooter really.

Makes sense that thieves sit there and case the parking lots during the day.
Again, if police wanted to catch theives stealing from motel parking lots it doesnt seem that hard when they are so brazen. Not sure how problems like this continue to grow when it's so easy to see where they're hitting.

We have a sherriff in our county that is really trying to clean the place up. Lots and lots of scumbage going down. I've helped them bring a few down.

A load of stream rock piled up for anyone to use works for me.

I was thinking the same thing. Unfortunately in todays society and thought process, you'd probably be the one going to jail. Crummy nonetheless
And here I thought it wasn't quite so bad down in the states as here in Canada. I see I'm mistaken. Can't defend yourself or your property in any way without becoming a suspect. It's all 🐎 💩.

It's not just rural folks who can't afford to wait for the police to take care of things. I've lived in a small town for 10 years and have had to call the police on a few occasions, once regarding a violent domestic dispute next door. It took them 10 minutes to get there. The woman had come to our place and asked us to call the police so she wasn't in any danger any more…but holy 💩 people don't seem to think about how much ugly stuff can go down in 10 minutes. And that's no critique of our fine police officers…they're humans with limitations like me, can't just teleport to the scene of the crime. But it really cemented in my mind that if push ever comes to shove my wife can go ahead and call the cops but I won't be waiting for them to protect what I am responsible for, my family and their shelter, by any means necessary, come what may.

I hate thieves and will never justify them.
But, to leave your gear in a duffle bag. $5000, worth of gear to be able to be grabbed is stupid also.

That is the exact reason I put a vortex and tasco sticker on my trucks window. No one will bother stealing from my truck.View attachment 400533
Hate to burst your safety bubble but when thieves see decals like Tasco Vortex NRA and other advertisements that there's a good chance of firearms knives and other sporting equipment. At our local hunting & fishing they wanted all members to put a club sticker on their vehicle but many don't want others to know we are outdoor sportsman we use a placard hang it from your mirror remove it when you leave I don't have any stickers or decals.

I think it all comes down to taking care of your gear and it taking care of you. Be it lazy or not in the right mindset...you dont leave a massive trophy and a $5000 bill laying out in plan sight in the west over night thinking nothing will happen. Being complacent then crying about the outcome is kind of dumb. I just left my camper and fourwheeler out in the country for a week. I was super worried about the fourwheeler because they are worth more to ppl where i hunt than cars. That being said i still double locked everything up and covered/hid the fourwheeler. Put a ulock on it with the ramped locked down to it and left in gear with the keys out. It was dumb to do but it worked out and i placed steps to deter others from stealing it. Same with my elk head driving around town with my wife. I covered the elk wrapped a lock around it and locked it to the bed and also parked where i knew cameras would be pointing at my truck. If no cameras i stayed with the truck while my wife went in.

It is sad we cant trust others anymore but it is a realization we have come to in most states in america. Dont leave anything behind or out that you dont want stolen plain and simple.

Yeah... the "virus" has spread to the West now.
Used to be that hunters never worried about leaving their vehicles at trailheads, a tent camp on the side of a mountain, or a vehicle in the parking lot. Now we have rv's in the mountains being broke into, hunting gear stolen from tents and vehicle burglarized at trailheads.
Drugs are a big part of it, but the morals in the collective populous have degraded to pure manure.
