6.5-300 Weatherby Magnum

It's popular enough to spur Peterson to make brass for it

The 7mm STW boys will be happy, all they gotta do is neck it up to 7mm and fireform in chamber

And they will have a 7x300 Wby, which has been a very popular round in some places for about 50 years.
Also the cartridge that sent the 6.5x300 Wby to its early demise in the same time frame. Again, in some places.
The STW is pretty much a clone to the 7x300 Wby, and came about a few years later when the 8 mm mag case became available.
The 7mm ultra mag is at least on paper slightly superior to both.

Well most folks would im sure would be a bit brighter than that.
Note that i did say most. lol.
In either event 6.5 or 7x300, the 300 Wby case can get you there pretty easily.
At least it used to, before the world became much smarter.

I'm watching Graf's and soon as the 6.5-300 Wby brass is in stock I'll get 100 pcs and neck 50 pcs up to 30 cal and 50 pcs to 338 cal, hoping the necks won't thin out too much in 338, would be nice to have good brass for my 300 & 340 Wby rifles

I love mine but I will only shoot it about 100 rounds a year.I hope to get 4 years before I have to install a new barrel.

I will be doing some load work up on some heavy Berger eol's that shouldn't hurt the barrel any worse than average. Think Berger said 2900 ish will n570. Going to try and keep it under 3000

I had one and hunted with it for a couple seasons. Shot a bull elk and a couple mule deer with it. Performance was great and my rifle was very accurate. Just dont shoot it too much , you will be rebarreling it every 600 rounds or so

300 shots and you'll be rebarreling..NOT A DAILY DRIVER BY A LONG SHOT....just too much powder for that bore
Ouch. I've also read similar things about the 30-378 🤔 aka "barrel burner" Recently had a re-barrel at Sheridan & they asked me if I wanted it re-chambered in a different caliber. Without considering the possible options I said no. (.300 Weatherby). Although after 15 weeks when I received it was barreled in .300 Win mag but that was undone after a total of 5 months. (2 different calibers on the same work order)

Really??!!?? I always used 8 Rem Mag brass if I couldn't find 7 STW brass. This is great news. Thanks for the info.
