How accurate are the Winchester XPR bolt action rifles. Thinking of buying a few of these rifles. Looking at the 300 WSM, 243 win. 300 Win Mag.
I'm not a WW rifle fan but I saw a new in 7mm mag a couple of weeks ago shooting from 100-500 yards and I was very very impressed...quarter sized groups at 100 to 3 inch or so at 500, as good as any out of the box rifle I've seen in many many moons...[/QUO

2.995 I have 2 of them. The first one shot so good, I bought another and made 2 semi customs. And I didn't have to buy after premium triggers either. The MOA trigger is hard to beat.If you buy one in 300wsm, let me know how long the box mag is internally -- I asked a few questions about them a while back and it appears not many people own one.
What kind of groups are you getting out of your 300wsm2.995 I have 2 of them. The first one shot so good, I bought another and made 2 semi customs. And I didn't have to buy after premium triggers either. The MOA trigger is hard to beat.
I didn't have a 300 wsm.. I had a 270 wsm and a 7wm. both shot lights out, but I built a 6.5 sherman short with the 270 wsm and a 338 sherman max with the 7wm.What kind of groups are you getting out of your 300wsm
any idea if the front of the mag was slotted like in my pic above, how long might the "magwell" allow you to load if the mag didn't limit itView attachment 157921

The pic is my 338 max at 300 yds.
There a few drawbacks to this gun. One is the magazine length. It was fine for the 6.5 Sherman with the short action, but I did the 338 with the long action because I'm over 3" by a long shot. With a 300 WSM I would not do it on there short action with long bullets because they won't fit without taking up your powder space and there's no after market bottom metal . Two, the only after market stock for this gun is a Boyd's
There Polly. And they're just like a tikka mag. I'll try to take a pic later. I took mine apart and took out a little steel plate in the front ( that I don't think I need) and it made a tad over 3"any idea if the front of the mag was slotted like in my pic above, how long might the "magwell" allow you to load if the mag didn't limit it
in an ar15 you can go from 2.295 with an asc mag, out to 2.36 if you slot the front of the mag and there are no feeding issues at all--that adds .065" to the loading length, but poly mags are thicker, so if the xpr mag was slotted it might add .08" to your load length, making your max load length around 3.075-- that would be longer than a SA 700 with a wyatts box, but not as long as a LA for sure
I've done it with asc brand ss ar-15 mags, and the lancer L7 mag for the 308 chassis and it works great as long as you keep the slot inside of the magwell, dont make the slot any longer than the height of the ar chassis magwell
