When the Big Muddy gets in flood stage as in '93, it rearranges things. Depending on topography, it can either deposit large amounts of silt and sand or remove (scour) them from the landscape. This hole is on a tributary of the Missouri, about a mile from the river in pretty flat farm land.

In this case, it means good catfishing.
