three Savage 22-250's

* 112BVs-s shot several sub .200" five shot groups out of the box. This was an older gun with the blued receiver and stainless barrel. It was almost always good for a .250" to .280" group. Sadly the gun was stolen.

* 112BVs that shot .330" right out of the box. It now shoots mid twos and very low threes.

* 12BVs-s started out shooting .300" groups with the exact same loads I used on the other two rifles. (35.5 grains of IMR3031 under a 55 grain Vmax with a Federal primer. The bullets were seated .002" off the lands). This rifle is now shooting mid to low twos, and has had nothing done to it except for mounting the scope.

Now the oddball in this group. An old first series Weatherby Vanguard in 30-06. It shoots 3/4" three shot groups at two hundred yards with factory Remington 150 grain corelocks. This rifle is as it was delivered except for the scope / rings/ and bases.

Another oddball for you all. I have two Remington 541's. One with a heavy barrel won't shoot all that great. Never took the time to find out why as it should shoot better than the other. The second rifle has the standard barrel in a one screw action (the other is the newer two screw action). The heavy barrel action has a 20X Burris scope, while the other has a Burris 6X HBR scope. At 50 yards the heavy barrel gun is good for about an inch! At 100 yards it's closer to three inches. The light barrel gun shoots .81" five shot groups at 100 yards using RWS Club match ammo. Always good for a tic over an inch at 100 yards if the wind is calm. The difference between the RWS and Green Tag at 100 yards is about six inches of drop! It's that slow. The light barrel rifle will literally do big ragged holes at 50 yards. Needless to say, I'll find out why the other won't shoot a lick!

I could name some others, but it'd get a little boring

My best factory rifle group was shot with this Savage LRH in 6.5-284 about five years ago. It continues to deliver this with several hundred rounds through it. .25 MOA at 500 yards.

This three shot group was shot at 1000 yards with a Factory Remington 700 SPS in 7 STW. Rifle is bone stock with nothing more than mounting a scope and shooting Berger 180 gr. VLD Hunting bullets. It wasn't a fluke, the rifle is a steady performer at long range. Not too shabby.

Stock Weatherby Vanguard S2 243, Bushnell Ultra H-D 3-9, 90 gr Nosler accubond being pushed by 43.5 gr I4350. Other than checking the torque on the actions screws and dropping the trigger down to 2.5 lbs, nothing has been done to the rifle.

4-shot group at 500 yards. 15-20 mph crosswind coming in at 10:30.
