Time is here. Leaving on September 28 for the first rifle elk hunt on October 1. Never been on a rifle elk hunt just archery and so far elk are 4 me 0. Hope this year is different. Will be hunting the iron mountain area. Taking my 6.5 creedmoor and very confident on shooting and also my savage 270 ultralight. Just recently got but have been shooting really really good. Any reports if the bulls are still bugling?

Wyoming hunt was a success. Connected on a nice 5x6. Bull estimated to be 7 years old. Used a 6.5 creedmoor and never thought I would shoot as far as the shot was 430 yards. Using 143 grain eldx. Found both bullets lodged in opposite side hide. First **** right behind the shoulder broke ribs. Destroyed lungs and through ribs on other side. Second shot went back a bit but missed rib bones destroyed liver and missed ribs on opposite side and found lodged in hide. The bull never moved after first shot but did follow up shot to make sure. Best experience ever . Awesome trip awesome guide and neighbors on ranch. Iron mountain outfitters.

Great bull! Congratulations.

I almost used the 143's, but instead opted for the 140eldm. They were devastating.

Love it! Great Bull. I am looking forward to getting to the great state of Wyoming to hunt elk some day. Thanks for the share.
