I'd be willing to maintain a google map of woof locations should anyone be interested.

The modus operendi would be that anyone who sends me sufficient information to tag a pack area on google map (lat/long or land mark such as mountain, river or forest road) will understand that it gets posted.

    Simple as that....

Roy- great idea! I was thinking about doing something along those lines as well (I'm just too lazy to keep it going). I'm in, and I bet the rest of the MT boys will too.

For just this purpose, I marked the tracks and direction of travel to three of the four wolves the other day on my GPS while trying to find one by Ennis Lake. I will share the location of every track I see for this type of tool for everyone to use.

If there is a way to download the tracks from you GPS and email them, I'll do what is necessary to create an xml and load it on google earth.

I usually save the locations in utm Grid coordinates but a guy could just post the general location and coordinates either utm or lat longitude for guys to use in the field. This may be an easier system to use in the field. On the google map would be cool to see as well though.

Hey Roy, Have you seen this? www.northwestwolfsightings.org

It isn't gps coordinates but it gives an idea. I have been trying to find out what the valid dates are on wolf tags in Idaho. Are they by the season or calender year? I've heard both ways.

Wolf tags in Idaho are calender year. So every December you have to buy a couple more.

Just to clarify, hunting tags are calender year and trapping tags are fiscal year

Earlier this year I found many fresh wolf tracks in several places along Ching/moose creek road approximately 5mi north of Kilgore, ID. Thick pine forest mostly with a few open meadows. Thats not much to go on but maybe a good starting point for someone. That road is relatively short and all the tracks I saw were on the north side of the road. There are good horse trails through that area maybe worth a ride. Lots of elk hunters in this area, anyone seen dogs up there?

There is a pack east of Featherville ID working the Iron Mountain area. There are tracks and crap on just about every trail in the area. Several hunters during elk and deer season saw wolves. Ross
