Someone locally is offering a Model 70 Extreme Weather without a fluted barrel. Did Winchester ever make one of these?

I don't think so. I've never seen a non fluted one. Doesn't mean they didn't have run of them, though. The extreme Weather is model that came out when they opened production in S.C. If you see the rifle, look for the appropriate markings. It should say what model it is on the side of the barrel.

I have several, none have NOT got a factory fluted barrel, but a few of mine have non fluted barrels because they're switch barrel set ups.
Fluting, as a general rule, is not accuracy conducive when the barrel heats, which is why when the factory barrels are toast I will be replacing them with non fluted barrels.

Cheers.
