Just received a pound of this new slow burning rifle powder, I'd like to get a starting load for the 338 RUM using the Nosler 250 grain Accubond with Federals 215 magnum primer.

The new Speer book shows a starting load of 85.0 grains of Vihtavuori N-560 (which is a tick faster than N-565) with the 250 gr. Grand Slam. Then a maximum load of 89 for 2877 fps.

Any thoughts?

Nobody's shooting this VV slow burner?

I shoot N570 in my 338 rum with 300 elite hunters. 93.3 grains pushes em 2830 in my 28" barrel. I'm long throated with a 4" magazine box.

I am currently using RL 26 in my 6.5 PRC. I recently purchased some N565 to try. Would you share your experience with N565 in your 6.5 PRC ? Thank You, JB
Very similar in velocity to RL 26. I don't think there was 10 fps difference. Both powders showed enough promise for further evaluation. Just haven't had time to finish the loads.

I have used N565 in .300NMI w. 230s @ 3038fps, and am using it in my 20" suppressed 6.5SS w. 156s @ 2960fps.

But don't get too hung up on it with only 1#. It is impossible to find right now. And it could take you half of your stock to work up your load.
