It's not a Savage stock. It is a Bell&Carlson. The floating bolt head does illiminate the necessity of blue printing, truing, what ever you want to call it. They make some nice ordinary stocks, and most come with pillar bedding. This helps with accuracy and consistency. If you want one gun, then get your 700 trued and barreled in the caliber of your choice. Put an aftermarket recoil lug, and trigger. Have the action bedded in its current stock and you will have an accurate shooter. Here is a link to a thread that involved one of the smiths on this sight and provides a video of some of his processes to truing and action: http://www.longrangehunting.com/forums/f17/blueprinting-remingotn-action-video-mcr-67757/ These video's should give you some understanding of blue printing or truing a Remmy action. Proper handloads or good factory ammo should produce well under an inch at 100yds. Just doing some trigger work to your factory trigger and making sure the barrel is free floated should do at least that much. Tank
