If I were going to build a custome rifle what would be the pro's and con's of building it on a trued Remington action as described by Fiftydriver or going with a Nesika Bay for example.

Bcraft1111,

The pros to the custom action would be:

-Out of box quality all around ready to roll in most cases.
-Extreme accuracy and consistancy

Cons would be:

-Cost
-Stock availability options

For the Rem, the pros would be:

-Low cost
-Availability
-Extreme accuracy potential
-Huge assortment of aftermarket accessories

Cons:

-Need to be accurized for full accuracy result
-Limited to barrel weight that can be used with conventional bedding system
-Receiver rigidity can be a problem

Personally, I would go with a Batt action if I were goign with a custom receiver simply beacuse they are affordable, for a custom action and can be ordered in different size actions for use with very large rounds and large diameter and long barrels.

With conventional barrel lengths and weights the Rem 700 gives up very little if anything to the custom action. IT is only when using very large rounds or long heavy barrels that the Rem 700 receivers are surpassed in performance by the custom actions.

Good Shooting!!
