I'm thinking about building a 280 AI on a Remington 700 LA. The gunsmith I have had build my past customs has retired so I am in the search for a new gunsmith to blueprint and install my barrel. With that being said here's my list of components, all of which are not yet acquired.
Remington 700 LA (6 digit Serial) - blueprinted and trued, slabbed, bolt fluted and put on a diet, firing pin upgraded
Proof Barrel - 26" 1-8 twist
Carbon stock of some sort, still undecided
Trigger tech with safety and bolt release
This will be my first 280 AI. I have custom 300 RUM, 6.5-284, and 223s all built on R700 actions now. I want this to be a lightweight multipurpose gun for out west. Just wondering if anyone has some advice or opinions on their experiences with past builds or a gunsmith. I have read a lot of the post here and on other sites to get to this point in the process. I do have a couple gunsmiths in mind already but this might change my mind aslo. Let me know your thoughts and any questions also.
