Solo Shooting Day

I had a 3-hour session booked at a local private range this weekend, and none of my regular shooting buddies, or two of my invited guests could make it last minute. So, I got to go shoot my own rifles for a change. Shot from 350 to 1387.

6CM, 105 Hyb (350 to 1387)
25CM 135 Hyb (350 to 1387)
.260AI 140 Hyb (740 to 1387)
6.5SS 130 Hyb (560 to 1387)
7SS 184 Hyb (740 to 1387)
.280AI 175 Elite (560 to 980 verification for upcoming elk hunt with my nephew)

I need to get a photo of the steel at 350. I call it the "Hostage target". It is a 66% IPSC silhouette and is 75% covered by a saguaro cacti skeleton, so you can only see about 25% of the right side from the platform I shot from. I always sneak a couple rounds into the 2" or so of head showing for fun.

Lance,
Good looking collection of rifles. I definitely have some gun envy! I'm new to shooting out here in AZ and don't have a spot. Been to Ben Avery a couple times but man is it crowded. Would love to know if the private range you are a member of is accepting new members or if I can get on a wait list. I live in N. Phoenix, near Desert Ridge area (just N and W of there). I need to find some like minded shooting people I can learn a thing or two from. Always enjoy your posts.

PM sent.

That is a nice collection of firearms. I feel kind of lucky that I can go to the range every weekend with out calling ahead. In a ten minute drive I have access to 100 to 1000 yards. If the range is crowded ( as it so often is in these overpopulated states like WY ) a fifteen minute drive puts me on state land to shoot.

Gotta say those are some nice looking rifles and looks like an awesome place to shoot. It appears most of those rifle look close to the same setup which is neat!
Similar, but all are definitely unique.

Two things come to mind here...1) if 4 or more people ...all from different families...all cancel....maybe they are trying to tell you something....and 2) Who's taking the pictures if you are alone? 😂 (but a great day none the less)

When no one wants to hang out, you get good at the timer feature on the camera!

How did you decide between the 7SS and the 280AI for the upcoming elk hunt? I thought maybe the 280 is more of a hunting rifle and the 7SS is a heavier range rifle. But then I see the 7SS has the Manners LRH stock. Very nice problem to have… such a tough decision?
