As one would have it my 308 brass has seen better days. I got all of it from shooting about every factory brand known to man. It's the first caliber I started reloading 6 years ago before I really got serious about keeping track of everything.

On to my question. I have never used sig brass. Cabelas had some yesterday so I picked up a bag of 50. Does anyone have any experience with it? Is it on the lower end higher end or somewhere in the middle?

My advice is go straight to the source. Email or call Sig and they should tell you who makes their brass, this will give you a good idea of the quality.

My guess is that its good, I dont see Sig going cheap on its components but you never know

I didn't know if anyone had any firsthand experience with them. Like when Hornady came out with the eldx. Some people like the way they perform others don't. They are definitely very accurate but I wouldn't use them on anything bigger than a deer. When I got mine there wasn't any information out there from people with firsthand experience. I loaded the 178 in my 308 and shot a whitetail at 175 yards. He didn't go but 1 step. However, I found the copper jacket under the hide on the opposite side. The entire core was gone.

I'm pretty sure sig has changed things up a bit and is making some of their own brass now. I've had some of their older 300wm brass, and some of their newer 300wm brass. It is different, the newer brass is better. I don't know what they did, but you can even see on the case head that the lettering is a little different. The new brass is pretty nice stuff.

Cabelas is one of those places with enough reviews to get a good feel for a product. I use Sig pistol brass and it is excellent for the price. Seems like most folks that have issues, is with the short piece count in the bag!

I've been using Sig brass in a 300wm. It was bought back when ADG was making it for Sig for about a year or so. I was told that Sig then started making brass themselves.

The brass from ADG was excellent, but never tried the Sig offering.

I have no issues yet with the 300 WM or .308 Win Sig brass. Simeon said it's comparable to Hornady, I would agree with that. For the price Cabela's is selling it for, I just bought more .308 and it should be here Monday. Now if could find some .30-06 brass I'd buy it as well.

I have tried it in 30-06 and .270 and it seems okay. I'll see how it holds up over time but the first reaction is it's good value for the money as a hunting round.

Thanks for all the insight on these. I just use the 308 to hunt with and try not to use it for anything over 300 yards. I have other options for longer range. The 308 weight 7.5 pounds fully loaded. My long range gun isn't bad at 10.5 fully loaded.
