Shooting in rain.

I did some shooting with rigid mounted rifles as a part of a research project while working at Lockheed, we did some shooting in rain that was too heavy for me to see the target at 1,000 yards and the POI did not change appreciably when compared to the no rain POI.

I have shot some absolutely amazing groups when the rain just starts to fall and I am not the only this is at ranges of at least 600 yards as that is where I do 90% of my shooting. So I don't think rain has a lot impact on the trajectory of bullets.

When shooting in the rain you need to be extremely careful to keep the ammo dry. I have seen droplets of rain cause enough reduction in chamber volume to cause significant increase in chamber pressure. I saw this happen one time across almost the entire F-class relay of 20 shooters so I don't think it is a figment of my imagination.
