shipping primed brass

What are the regulations concerning shipping brass that is primed ?
Is it treated as loaded ammo, and is there a haz mat fee involved ?
Any imformation would be appreciated. Don't seem to be getting the same answer twice from my local UPS branches.

While not a shipping expert, I would assume that shipping primed brass would be just like shipping ammo...if using UPS all you have to do is mark the box. I shipped a bunch of 357 sig ammo last month and all I had to do was mark the box. Seems like with UPS it's up to the person at the counter as to what they require

No different than shipping powder or primers; you need a federal explosives permit. This is not necessary for fully loaded ammo. In addition, you will pay UPS or FedEX a HAZMAT fee. So either load them up or remove the primers before shipping.
