My sendero has two sling studs up front also, but I take the back stud out of the stock when I use my rest when I am out target shooting, found out the hard way to not leave it in.
If you are resting the butt on a body part, like many guys shooting on benches do, (they slip their left hand under the butt to support and level the rifle), the rear stud will rip it under recoil.
That rifle should be shot prone using a bipod or sitting on the ground.
Wasn't it Elmer Keith that despised shooting on a bench? 'Stand on your hind legs and shoot like a man.' was one of his lines.
