Hey all, a little help is needed here.
I need the seating point and over all length for a Nosler 150 BT or Nosler 168 J-4 for any 30 cal Savage barrel floating around out there.
I have searched this and a couple of other sites and have found lots of C.O.L.'s for those bullets but NOT the actual point at which the bullet touches the lands AND the C.O.L.
I have a 30 cal barrel that won't shoot much less than 1.5" and my cartridge length touching is 2.95". A 125 won't seat in the case.
I have tried most of the accuracy loads, i.e., Varget, RL-15, IMR 4064, 150, 165 and 168 gr bullets, prepped Lapua brass, glassed laminated stock and all the tricks 40 some years of playing this field, taught. I'm guessing I got a bad barrel but I need to know what the throat length for the average 30 cal Savage barrel is.
