Guys I have been looking at sako 85 Finnlight a ever since I burned and rebarreled my finnlight 75 270wsm and turned it into a 300-1000yard rig. I was about to pull the trigger on a 30-06 Finnlight 85, when I saw an add up locally for a "sako AV 300win". I'm not too familiar with this model so I figured I'd come here for help. This supposedly has a 24" barrel and a maple stock with less than a box of ammo through it. Just a safe queen because it was "too pretty to hunt with". This gun is for sale for $1300 with Talley rings box and all the original stuff. Is this a good acceptable Or bad deal?

My cousin has the identical rifle and I have an av in 300wby with laminate.
They're very nice rifles, not sure on the price, but the trigger is as nice as a standard Timney.
The recoil with old buttpad and stock lines is on the harsh side, but they're awesome rifles.

I'd buy it, I have a Sako with a 300 WM barrel, ( not stock) and it's one of the best shooting rifles I've ever owned, hard to put a price on something that feels like a part of you after a while.

Everything I know about SAKO tells me it's a great action.

The 75's had some accuracy issues if I remember right due to a different bolt pattern that made it difficult to relive all the stresses on the action but I've never heard anything but glowing reports on the 85's.

Some of my fondest memories are of hunting with a friends of the family's Sako Deluxe in .243 when I was a kid. Dad borrowed it from him for us to use when we first started deer hunting at a very early age.

That was almost fifty years ago I can still feel and see it in my hands and remember the first few deer and my first coyote all killed with it.

The AV is a step up from the L579 action, essentially identical with a few refinements.
I have an original Sako L461 'Vixen' in 222Rem, fortunately, mine came with a Canjar trigger.

Awesomely accurate, even with cheap factory ammo.
The price sounds right, they go a little higher here in Australia land.

Cheers.

Thanks for the input guys. I have a couple sakos already. A L569 243, A7 rough tech pro 30-06, and the heavily altered 75 7wsm. Looks like I'm going to be adding a 300win sako av to the collection.
