One of a few "minty" vintage rifles that I purchased some time ago. As with the FN Mauser that I have up for sale, this rifle is in excellent condition. I have never fired it, and from appearances it may have had only a handful of rounds through it at all. Bolt face, bolt body, receiver all look pristine. Bottom metal is gorgeous. Bore is mirror-bright. Barrel is stamped "Bofors". Stock is figured, and very attractive (to my eye, at least). Checkering appears to be clean and crisp. This rifle comes with 1" rings (bases are shown in the photos; I didn't photograph the rings, however they are in as-new condition). You may notice a slight "shimmer" to the metal; this is light refraction from the thin coat of oil that I keep on my rifles.
For those unfamiliar with these rifles, they were apparently a target model, as indicated by the barrel length and contour, and by the stock design. They are apparently not particularly common, and highly sought after.
This is a tried and true series of hunting rifle, chambered in a classic hunting cartridge. The Sako L579 and L61R series essentially combined push feeding with fixed-blade ejection. In this regard, they offer what I believe are advantageous features when compared to the alternative forms of feeding and ejection.
