I'm trying to see if anybody has mounted a Nightforce NX8 4-32x50 on a Kelbly Nanook long action with a Proof Sendero. I would like to mount it as low as I can. Thanks

I am having to use medium height Nightforce rings on my 338 nanook with a Nx8 4-32x50. The lows caused the scope to hit the barrel. I have a helix 6 barrel but the contour is close to a proof sendero. I have always been able to use low rings but I think the 35 MOA rail has the scope tilted forward quite a bit more is why.

The 338 have a 35 MOA. You probably only have a 20 with the mag or standard bolt face. Low rings have always worked for me on actions with 20 MOA bases

The lowest you can go is by using math.
50mm / 25.4mm = 1.97" / 2 = .98" (half of objective diameter)
1" height without touching receiver/pic rails

Easier would be to take half of objective (50mm in this case) / 25.4mm to get imperial numbers. Less math!

I've got 3 rifles all built on nanooks, all running 4-32 nx8's. All with 1" Hawkins rings. I don't think I could go any lower. 1 has a sendero benchmark carbon, 1 has a sendero light benchmark carbon and the other has a bartlein sendero carbon. The benchmark sendero is more like the proof sendero. I don't think I could go any lower infact the 1" is borderline. Not much room between barrel and bolt nob is stupid close.

But a 50mm objective is not a 50mm measurement on the outside of the objective bell.

Don't forget to add the Pic rail height to the equasion.

Here is a Kelbly Nanook SA, Proof Sendero contour, w. ARC 30mm low .94" rings and a NF NX8 2.5-20x50 for reference. Still clears the scope caps.
