I had pretty good success with H1000 & 8133 with 205 EH and 199 Hammer Hunters.
It's gonna be tough getting the big heavies to stabilize in a 10tw. Thankfully you have a 26" barrel because a lot of manufacturers slap a 24" on the 300prc and that hobbled the cartridge right out of the box. I'd save the H1000 for the 180's or something WSM flavored. It's a 26" barrel plus break. 1:10 twist. Mainly used for hunting but playing some with shooting steel out to 1000 yds. I thought about trying Berger's as well. Depending on how eldx's do.
76gr of RL26 behind a 230 Atip gets me 2915fps with an ES of 6 in fire formed Lapua brass. This load is warm-ish! I started at 73gr and worked up .3gr. 76.6gr of RL26 is where I stopped and backed it back down to 76gr where I had a happy node and was running over 2900fps. As always....results may vary and be careful. What kinda velocities with which bullets are y'all getting. Curious because I've got an 8lber of 26 I'm wanting to purpose
Would you mind sharing some data with ramshot magnum? I'm building a 300 prc now and just picked up this powderIt's gonna be tough getting the big heavies to stabilize in a 10tw. My top 3 powders for the 220gr+ bullets are.
RL26
Ramshot magnum
N570...but its dirty
So to answer your question out of the 2 you mentioned I'd start with retumbo.
Those 2 are very similar, essentially N568 is like a short cut version of N570. They are both speed wise very similar to Retumbo.I have N568 but no 570.
It is exactly between H1000 and Retumbo. I took H1000 numbers and added them to Retumbo numbers and divided by 2 for a starting point of 75gr with a 215gr. I don't have anymore 215s or I'd still be shooting them in front of 78.8gr of ramshot.Would you mind sharing some data with ramshot magnum? I'm building a 300 prc now and just picked up this powder
If its above 85° I'm on the boat lol.N570 under a 230 Hyb in a 24" 1:9" got me 2835fps into tiny groups with single digit ES. And the barrel onlybhas 50ish rounds down it. So I expect to see another 50fps as it continues to break in.
I won't use RL26 in a rifle that will see hunting/shooting in temps above 85°. It does fantastic if you stay below 85° though.
Lucky stiff! Retumbo has my vote.I just got my 300 PRC from the gunsmith that built it. I am going to shoot 212 gr. ELDX bullets through it. Which powder does everyone like better. Retumbo or H1000? I have both.
