I'm shooting a remington 700 sps varmint in 308. it has a
1:12 twist with a 26in barrel. Any body worked up a load for this gun? I got some varget and some 168 smk bullets If anyone has a recipe for this combo. I would also like to hear any good loads you guys have!

As always, it's best to work up your own load. But one to try would be 44.0gr of Varget, Fed 210M, Lapua cases, and seated to 2.810" COAL.

Shot good for me, and has shot good for several other .308's, but every rifle is different. However, 44gr of Varget seems to be a very common charge weight for the .308 Win with 168gr bullets.

Lapua cases
168 gr. Sierra M/K
44.4 gr. N550
CCI BR2
2550 fps. AVG
1/2" @ 200 yds.

This load shoots extremely well out to 300 yds. (Same rifle you are shooting.)

Other powders that work well for me are; Win 748, Rl15. Imr 4064, IMR8208XBR, H4895, IMR 4895, AA2520. Many powders work well in the .308.
