Was looking at PTG reamers and saw they have 26 Nosler wildcat reamers on sale.
Who will be the first kid on their block to make a 28 Nosler or perhaps a 30 or 338? The only problem I see in making a wildcat off the parent cartridge is only one manufacturer of the brass.

Thank you!

27, 28 and 30 ordered.
Barrels and actions ready and have been.
33 still at the smith. Never had to wait this long before.

Also got a 33 resize reamer and die blank.

I am making a 30 cal and a 28 cal Wildcat that is very similar in size. I will form my brass from Ultra Mag brass. You could use form dies and make the 26 Nosler and the Wildcat versions from Ultra Mag cases too.

I thought you might be able to use some of the RUM brass Edd. Can you share the details on how you will do it? Which brass? 338 RUM is shorter would that help?

I am interested in doing a 27 Nosler.

I was in the local farm/fleet store and they had 26 Nosler brass on the shelf.

Using 338 brass could help, depending on what caliber you are making. It would require one less form die.

I'm using 300 RUM brass. I may use 7mm RUM brass for my 7mm just for the headstamp. My dies will work for either. The way they are designed is to use 5 dies for the two cartridges. My 7mm case has a slightly longer shoulder and longer OAL than my 300. So, you take a 300 RUM case and run it thru the first three dies. Then, depending on which die you choose, the fourth die forms a 30 caliber or a 7mm. The fourth die is also a file trim die.

My form dies are supposed to be delivered to me tomorrow. I already have a 30 cal reamer, barrel, and action. I'm waiting until the 195 gr Berger bullets are available to order my 7mm reamer. Originally I was only going to build a 7mm. The 30 cal was an afterthought when the 7mm bullets got put on hold.

Is it ironic that I have 400 Nosler 300 RUM cases?

Thanks for the details Edd. Who made your form dies?

400 pcs of brass? I see an entire can of imperial sizing wax used up in your future. <grin>

Well, to tell you the truth, via my connections I had 26 Nosler brass on hand while everyone was still arguing over the parent case .....Ruger,Rum,Ruger,Rum,Ruger,Rum ........
talk about a bunch of gossipy rumor spreading ladies on all of the gun forums ! hahaha

I punched out dummy rounds of a 25, 28, 30, 338, 375 and 416 Nosler,
the problem I encountered was these rounds failed to provide a decent increase in powder capacity over the 300 Weatherby & 8mm Rem Mag based wildcats, we can talk "beltless" all we want but I'm more inclined to reach for higher capacity, ultimately I decided to let others jump all over these wildcats, otherwise I would have a couple completed guns by now, I prefer the full length 300 Rum case
