Why are they no plinking type 22 centerfires? There are quite a few high velocity types 220 swift, 223 etc. But as much as people shoot 22 rimfires for fun. I would think someone would make a 22cal funster centerfire, that could be reloaded @around 2000-2500fps that is easy on powder and cases. Thoughts on why?

What about the 221 fireball? It will shoot a cheap fmj 55gr mil surplus bullet with 15-16 grains of powder at 2400 to 2500 fps. Seems like the most expensive part of the load would be the primer.

Maybe the "fun" part of shooting rimfires is not picking up the brass! The 22 Hornet burns 10 grains of powder- that's 700 rounds/pound has been around since 1930. The 218 Bee burns 12 grains been around since 1937. 22 TCM burns 11 grains, must not be too popular in a rifle- there are only 2 on G.B. So it's not a lack of "plinking centerfires" it's a lack of plinking centerfire buyers.

There's a few out there. 22TCM, 224-32 FA, 22 hornet, and 5.7x28 to name a few. They're just not super popular and are usually seen as varmint cartridges. It's difficult at best to save money compared to 22lr and 22 Magnum. 223 can be downloaded significantly or pushed hard with heavy bullets making it much more versitile.
