I have a mauser vz-24 with a belgium 30-06 barrel that i want to change.
what i was wanting to do is put a qulity 284 win barrel on it and fit it to the custom stock that is on it. Does anyone have any suggestions. i want a semi heavy hunter contour and bout 24"-26". all suggestions are greatly apperciated.

#4 Douglas taper Hart if you are going 26". If 24" you could get away with #3 contour.
Look up Hartbarrels.com & note the length vs taper requirements & weight, & adjust accordingly to suit your needs.

I prefer Hart, but Brux, Kreiger, Lilja, Schillen, etc are all great barrel makers, with proven records also.
