Need Wyoming travel info

Looks like I may be taking the wife to Yellowstone National Park in August. We will be flying out of NYC (probably JFK airport).

I would like to spend time in Cody and Jackson during my 6 day stay. Any suggestions on places to stay, things to see, other? Hotels should be clean and comfortable but not posh.

Lots of options with Motels chain and independent ones. I like Cody a lot with the Cody Musem a must. Imra Motel and cafe (Buffalo Bills old motel). Jackson is more of a tourist trap but sit on a saddle and have a beer in the Million Dollar Bar. Jackson usually cost more.
