Here's the dilemma . Just got my rifle done and in the market for a scope that's gonna shoot from 100 to 1000 yards. I'm curious if a NF 3.5-15-56 will be enough or if I should go up in power and get a 5.5-22-56. Really like the Nightforce line but I'm open to suggestions. Caliber in rifle is a 300 RUM match.,

I like the 8-32x56 w/ the MOAR reticle, myself. If I can afford one, I would buy one in a heartbeat for my 7mmSTW. Got a couple trucks and 4x4 parts I need to sell or trade, if so, then I bet I could buy a few. LOL

If you can afford one, more power to you! You will love it!

Will the 3.5-15 reach 1000yds? Yup. But it may be a little out classed by your 300RUM. What do you intend to shoot @ 1k? The 5.5-22 would be a much better choice for hunting at that distance IMHO. Keep in mind, there is always a trade off: The higher you go in magnification, the less vertical travel you will retain in the turrets. Most folks choose to stay in the 20x-25x area as the magnification is usable for precision shooting yet still retains enought elevation adjustment for LONG range shooting as well.

You can always go with a tapered base (& I recommend that you do) & even the 32x NXS will reach 1k very easily with your RUM.

You might want to consider the 5.5x22x56nxs. Last weekend I was shooting with two friends at a 1275yd gong. The .300 wm with the 8x32x56 did not have enough elevation adjustment, even with a 20moa rail. The 5.5x22x56 had plenty of adjustment. Gary
