I am a staunch advocate for NOT decorating game animals for Christmas...

My wife put a Santa hat on my only shoulder mount this year. She quickly found out I wasn't impressed. I feel it's almost a little bit sacrilegious or something... Takes away from the pureness of the hunt maybe.

On the other hand, my little boys were BEGGING to put it on the deer, and she did it carefully so it didn't damage anything... Tough call. In the end at their age I figured I'd rather them be happy if it didn't damage anything. Not sure she will do it again next year, though

I'm not one for decorating my mounts, but if my wife is accepting of my dead animals around our house then I will compromise if she wants to decorate them during Christmas. I also have tall ceilings and put my mounts up high and my wife is 5'1.5" so she can't reach them.

There was a red nose on my caribou several years ago, and I made it clear that was not going to fly. But if my great grand daughter asked, it would probably go back on. Thank goodness that hasn't happened.
