Mounting a scope on an M1A

I recently purchased a side-mount scope base for my M1A, which utilizes the dovetail for the clip guide. What the best/safest way to remove that pin on the guide ?

I got it mounted. You just have to drive that pin out that holds the clip guide in the dovetail. It was just a matter of finding the right size punch to drive it out.
