I have recently ordered a Remington 308 caliber 700 series SWAT edition rifle. I have heard Leopold and Zeiss are some good brands to select. What specs will I need to be able to shoot a target accurately at 700 to 800 yards?

The 308 drops about 30 MOA out to 800 yards. So, you need a whole bunch of vertical adjustment in a scope. A 20 MOA rail or a set of Burris rings with inserts would be helpful.

Parallax adjustment is helpful.

If you are just shooting targets then you don't need the largest objective made being as you will always have excess light.
