Finally got decent enough weather to go and do another load test. In my last test, I had 3 loads that stood out, at 45.0, 45.2 and 46.0 grains of Varget under my 155gn Berger hunting VLDs. For those 3, I had the following notes 45.0: 0.46 MOA horizontal, no vertical 45.2: 0.403MOA nice 3 shot cluster 46.0: 0.452 MOA Nice 3 shot cluster (very slight ejector marking) Today when I went out, I had 2 purposes, 1 to sight in my new Vortex Viper PST, and, 2: to do some load testing on those 3 loads. on the first goal, I did OK, I think I have the 100 yard zero pretty well figured out. On the second, well, here's where I need some help. Conditions: Cloudy/misting rain Tempurature: 34 degrees Wind: no felt wind Here is my 100 yard target. Going from left to right are 45.0, 45.2 and 46.0 grains The 45.0 loads were a waste as far as testing, because I used the 2 sighters and 3 rounds to get on paper. The 2 hits just to the left of the dot are the last 2 shots at that charge weight. The 45.2gn shots formed a horizontal line 0.73 MOA long, about .5 MOA low the 46.0gn shots formed a 0.423 MOA group 1 MOA low. I adjusted my zero .75 MOA, splitting the difference between the 2. Here is my target at 200 yards: I used the bottom left corner of the square for point of aim. The 45.0 loads formed a group that was 1.45 MOA, with one shot landing off the papoer. the center of the group was 2.434 inches low the 45.2 loads formed a 0.36 moa (.75in) group. the center of the group was 1.9 inches below point of aim The 46.0 group had one called flier, making for a group of .88 MOA (2 of the rounds were touching). The center of the group was 2.4 inches below point of aim. Any thoughts? I'm really starting to think that 45.2gn is my load, but that flier on the 46.0 load has me questioning thatt.
