Gentlemen…
I am searching for a recipe for a 18" pencil bbl in 1:12 twist Kimber Adirondack. Mainly hunting deer sizes animals. I'm old school…leaning on the heavier side for knock down purposes. I favor Nosler Partions(165 or 180).

My concern is the short bbl! It's the shortest one I own. I obviously I want a weight that stays stabile up to 500yds.

Thanks in advance!

These are the target I shot the groups two different times. They vary a little but this gun barrel is pitted like crazy and had the old savage trigger that is horrible.

Them were all 150 pro hunters except the middle
middle target them were 150 accubonds. The pro hunters are more consistent then the accubonds for accuracry. I think it's a 1:10 but might be 1:11. It's a factory savage barrel. Like I said to it is pitted very bad too.

I have had my best luck with imr 4064 varget or h 4895 and a sierra 165 with a 12 twist

I ran a Mountain Ascent and could never get it to shoot anything heavier than the 168 gr offerings. Had decent luck with the 165gr Accubonds. Don't remember the exact charge i was using but it was Varget.

Have you shot any ammo through it yet ? The reason I ask is there are some very accurate factory loads out there might be worth a try.I would start with with 150-168 grain and see what your rifle likes.Federal SMK's Hornady eldm, amax, bthp match, Lapua scenar155 grain.Barnes tsx , ttsx. You get the idea find any of those use the bto length and try and duplicate the load.Good luck.If you are going to strictly reload JMW67 hit on the 3 powders that I would try first, sound advice.

My kimber 308 patriot 44.4 varget with 165 acubond 5/8 group 100 yds

I use the 165 grain Sierra Game King with 42.5 grains of varget. I shoot this in a 16.5" .308 barrel and it is a hammer on deer and hogs.
