Anyone have experience to share in lapping sizing dies necks. Thinking of getting adjustable barrel laps to try. I know Sunnen lapping machine would be most accurate but could I truly lap a straight hole with the barrel lap and not have bellmouth at each end of hole?

First i ordered a new RCBS 223 dies set , before lapping, just in case.

Took a wood dowel, emery paper cut to the length of the neck area. Took measurements for length.

Problem is to get the cutter into the neck, it has to spin. This makes the neck larger near the shoulder by a thousandths.

Cut a little, clean die, size a fired case, measure. It works ok.
The expander pulls thru the neck a lot smoother now.

RCBS dies are not that hard.

I would buy a Redding fl S bushing die like i use for my 243 40xb, but a Savage Axis 223 doesnt seem to care.
