A friend of mine in Az put together a Warbird for me about 1996 or '97. It was built on a Rem 700 with a 27" Lilja barrel in 14 twist, and sat in a McMillan HTG stock. I made my first 500 yrd kill shot with that rifle and never even touched the knob on the scope. I also killed a couple of bull elk at over 800 yrds. That rifle was a ton of fun, and the barrel lasted pretty close to 1500 rounds. Near the end of it's life I started to get unexplainable flyers. Like 3 or 4 in a nice group at 700 yrds and one 4 feet low. So I shelved the rifle a few years ago until I get around to putting a new barrel on it. The new tube will have a bit more twist and probably finish at 28". I'm glad to hear about the change in brass suppliers. I had a few issues with some of the MAST brass. I was starting to think about a 30 cal wildcat on the 338 Lapua. But now I may rethink that. It may be time to get on the ball and spin a new tube on my "Bird".
